New Dartboard (4 concepts)

Happy Tuesday, after doing some research and re-examining both the notes from our meeting, as well as the other materials you’ve sent. I’ve developed the following four directions. All of these have a sung/musical phone number. Given the fact that it’s not a catchy number, I think it will serve you best to have that part sung. If you really want the tagline sung, I can throw up a few concepts by Thursday (I have a few in the works). As in previous drafts, the vocals are mine and are rough - a professional singer will be brought in once we’ve landed on a final concept.

Please let me know which direction you’d like to pursue, thanks for your patience, and I hope you had a good holiday weekend.

TJ

Research

12/13/21 - phone Meeting

Outcomes

  • Re-starting project from scratch

  • Request for more melody movement and further development

  • Request for more instrumentation

  • 4 new concepts

    • 2 with spoken tagline and sung numbers

    • 2 with sung tagline and spoken numbers

11/16/21 - Working Concept of 6/7 w/vox and sfx (3 edits)

Your Notes (emailed) -

  • Preference for versions 6 and 7 from the dartboard

  • Other than removal of ‘crime drama’ bed, no aesthetic requested

All updates are in the “Anne Hoke Concepts” playlist.

  • I’ve introduced some light harmonies and sound effects to a merging of concepts 6 and 7 from the dartboard.

  • The jingle is a bit longer with them, but I think the phone ring, in particular, presents a ‘signature’ sound that could become synonymous with the jingle, itself.

  • I included a sped up version of the jingle, as well, in order to keep up within the 5 second mark. Speeding it up any more starts to make it sound weird IMO.

11/10/21 - dARTBOARD (7 concepts)

Posted a new playlist with 7 raw jingle ideas. A few thoughts that went into these:

  • The phone number and tagline parts are relatively interchangeable. So, if you like the phone number for one and the tag for another, I can combine them.

  • I rephrased some of the numbering (e.g. “four-ten” instead of “four, one, zero”) - I think this will help with clarity, regardless of the direction we move in.

  • Since the word “Hurt” is essentially a question, it will make sense having that be the highest note of the tagline (most of the concepts above are like that)

  • It will be better for clarity if we can insert a short pause between the number and tagline, so that’s what I recommend. That said, you’re the boss. If you’d prefer no pause, I’ll make it work the best that I can.

  • FINAL NOTE - This is all just brainstorming, and all of these ideas are pretty flexible. So, go with your gut on things you like/dislike.

11/5/21 - POC 2 posted (4 revisions)

Your Notes (both emailed) -

  • Needs to be shorter/faster (still requiring both phone number and tagline)

  • Needs more impact

The new concept addresses both of the above notes. The vocals are still ‘scratch,’ as I have a male vocalist lined up to do the final version. I’m happy to share my thoughts with you after you give it a listen. Thanks!

I’m trying something new by offering a ‘notes’ field for you to fill out below. I’m not married to the process. So, if you’d prefer to send notes via email or over the phone, feel free! Looking forward to your thoughts.

11/2/21 - Official Version 1 posted (3 concepts)

  • “Inst” contains only the background instruments (these establish the ‘vibe’ or feel of the piece)

  • “PianoMelody” contains a ‘notes only’ version of the jingle itself

  • “SampleVocal” is really just that. As I am still recovering from a cold and my COVID booster, please do not freak out about the robotic and non-musical sound of it (I already have a professional vocalist signed up to sing on the final). This is really to help you get a sense for how the jingle will sound all-in-all.

Feel free to let me know what you think and thanks!
